SPRING is in the air and everybody is on ‘fashion mode’ at a local mall in Penang.Queensbay Mall in Bayan Baru is going ‘fashionable’ this month with its fashion-themed entertainment programmes and shopping specials.

The mall launched its sensational ‘Fashionably Queensbay Mall’ fashion month recently in style with models modelling fabulous outfits.

Featuring the beautiful latest creations by local fashion designer Key Ng and labels Forever 21 and Noor Arfa, the launching ceremony-cum-fashion show drew many away from shopping and window-shopping.

Models were dressed in outfits fit for parties, casual days, formal evenings and workplaces.

While Forever 21 and Key Ng brought to the fashion show fabulous trendy wear, Noor Arfa gave it a ‘softer’ side with its beautiful batik collection and Asian designs.

The label’s batik shirt for gents had an ‘easy breezy’ feel and casual look. The designer then gave the women ‘modernised’ traditional wear in both vibrant and soft colours, which were nicely suited for the spring season.

Queensbay Mall general manager Datin Rafidah Jalil said such fashion shows could attract tourists to visit Malaysia and Penang to see the unique creations of local designers, especially the batik collections.

State Tourism Development, Culture, Arts and Heritage Committee chairman Danny Law Heng Kiang, who was present at the launching ceremony, said with the new state government focusing on transparency, he had faith that more investors would come to Penang.

“After Queensbay Mall, we also plan to develop Pulau Jerejak as a tourist destination and bring more people to the southwestern part of Penang island,” he said.

With business booming, Queensbay is also rewarding its loyal shoppers this month, offering rewards in shopping vouchers, gift redemption and lucky draws.

For minimum purchases of RM50, shoppers at the mall’s fashion outlets can enter a lucky draw contest to win a massage chair worth RM20,000 and other prizes.

Shoppers with RM150 purchases and above will receive shopping vouchers and additional lucky draw entries.

For purchases above RM300, an exclusive bath towel will also be given.
